After a full on day of chain sawing yesterday I went up to the wood this afternoon to clear up the smaller branches and twigs…. not going to be wasted, once they dry out they will be next winters kindling sticks.

As I got to the wood a large bird of prey took off and circled round. Not unusual there are normally Buzzards about but this was not a Buzzard it was a Red Kite.

Quickly got camera out and managed a couple of shots… far from the best but you can see it was a Red Kite. Now I know these are not a rareity but it is a first time I have seen one at Ninewells wood.

Also noticed one Silver Birch sapling which is obviously completely oblivious of the fact that it is now December.
