I had spent the day brush cutting to keep my paths open. The bracken likes to spread into the path, brambles grow across it and little Silver Birch pop up in the center of the path.  Little Silver Birch don’t take long before they become big Silver Birch.

So two tank fulls of petrol which adds up to about 3 hours of brush cutting and one very exhausted and sweaty Alan. There were also lots of Horse flies about today. I decided that two tank fulls was enough and so I went an sat in the shade in my office.   (My office is a very rough and ready shelter come hide made from pine logs brush and tarpaulins, not pretty but its OK).

I was sat there when I noticed some movement in the bracken, it was black and quite large… I could not figure it out but I got my little camera ready and waited… not for long and then this appeared.

It was followed by another one, they were quite inquisitive and came quite close to investigate who was sat in their wood.

They pottered about a bit and pecked at some vegetation and stuff on the ground, at one point one of them settled down and sat for a while, his mate came and had a look and then they both went off, back in the direction they came from.

My neighbor in the small holding has Peacocks, I can always hear them yelling but this is the first time I have ever seen them in the wood.
