This relatively common and easily identified fungus was spotted yesterday growing in Ninewells wood. This is the first time I have seen it there.

Despite its rather toxic colour it is edible but you need quite a number to make a meal. I have collected them in the past from Thetford forest in Norfolk but they are not that special.  Several recipes suggest adding some bacon to them and I think that says it all.
