Animal Life of the British Isles, Edward Step, Grey squirrels, Ninewells Wood, Wayside and Woodland Books
The Wayside and Woodland books cover all British Wildlife, including trees, flowers ferns and fungi. I have a collection of about 20 of them. One is called Animal Life and was published in 1921. The author was Edward Step F.L.S. which is Fellow of the Linnean Society. He wrote several of the earlier books and is a great author, easy to read and yet full of facts. I try to model my writing on his, getting there, but he was the master.

In this book there is an interesting paragraph about Grey squirrels. Released from London Zoo! and just getting established in some of the London Parks. The paragraph follows on from the pages on Red Squirrels which were obviously found all over the UK back then.
