Well it is not that was the wood this week because I have been away for several weeks but today Friday we went up to the wood for the first time and all was well.
On arrival I was greeted by two Buzzards that took to the skies and swooped around making a lot of mewing cries. This Is usual but today it seemed like their cries were far louder and more frequent than usual. Do they recognise my truck and were they welcoming me back, or were they saying where the hell have you been, and have you bought any food.
Well I had and also some bird food and peanuts for the little birds. We had a short walk round and obviously now most of the trees had lost their leaves, there was only one fungus to be seen and that looked quite gone over.
Some of the Holly bushes had quite a few berries on so I will cut a few twigs for Christmas but then after the festive season is over I will return them so the Fieldfares and Redwings can feed on them.
My pond had some water in it but the ground was not that wet, I call it a pond but it is really just a hollow in the ground which can fill with water in the winter but is dry every summer. I got the man with the JCB to scrape it out when he was clearing the brash after we had the Pines felled but it is not a pond just a hollow.
Not a lot else to report, the buzzards were feeding on my offerings when we got back to the truck and not kicking up any more.
