Well only 2 weeks after putting up the bird feeder, I have been blessed by the arrival of Blue Tits and Great Tits.

I visited last Wednesday ( 16/11/2022) and had only been there a short time when a couple of Blue Tits were flitting about in the trees, This in itself is unusual, I sometimes see a mixed flock of Tits working their way along the big trees that grow at the edge of the wood close to the road but not that often in the newly grown Silver Birch that are now recolonising the wood subsequent to our felling of the Corsican Pines some years ago.

It did nor take long for the Blue Tit to work its way onto the Bird Feeder, and then his friend turned up and the two were back and forth for a short while. They then went off but it was not long before two more Blue Tits turned up. Was it the same ones or was it a different pair? I suspect the same ones.

Later a pair of Great Tits visited and again were back and forth, at times there were both Great and Blue tits on the feeder, almost busy. I did see 4 Blue Tits at one time so obviously it was more than one pair. Also a couple of Long Tailed tits were around for just a few minutes but they did not visit the feeder.

Another benefit of the feeder is that the tits are quite fussy and throw out seed they do not want and that lands on the ground nearby and so it provides an on going food source for the Robins and Hedge Sparrows.

So all good and what will be next? There are Coal Tits around and Great Spotted Woodpeckers, maybe some Chaffinches or even Bramblings???
