The feeding station or feeding area comprises a stack of old pine logs on which I put chicken carcasses, road kill ( usually squirrels) occasionally dog food and a scattering of bird food. Recently I have added some crab apples and some surplus to requirements sweet corn.
The addition of a bird feeder with quality bird food a couple of months ago is the game changer. Also there is a small preformed plastic pond nearby as a drinking area, that has been there some years now. What more could they want?
The addition of the bird feeder has vastly increased the birds visiting. After a few weeks I was getting the odd Blue Tit or Great Tit. I always had Robins, Hedge Sparrows Magpies, Crows and sometimes a Buzzard.
Yesterday (10/12/2022) I spent a couple of hours in the wood and it was very busy. Almost constant use of the feeder by Blue, Great and Coal Tits. However it was also visited by a Nuthatch. I look very carefully to see if there are any Marsh Tits, they are in the area but none so far on the feeder.
Yesterday there were two Great Spotted Woodpeckers about, they did not visit the feeder but that might have been because I was parked too close.
Also a Chaffinch came by and a Redwing, As the light was fading a female Bullfinch passed by

I think the feeding station is a success when it brings the birds in to keep you company. Amelia
